Temporary Agent (TA)

A non-permanent staff category that sits on the same AD/AST grade and salary structure as Officials. TA contracts are used for specialised technical or scientific posts, politically-mandated roles (e.g. cabinets), or agency posts where no official-track competition is run. Contracts are typically 3-4 years, renewable, and in some cases convertible to indefinite duration.
